Banff and Calgary - Canada
Billy and I had a great time in Banff and Calgary! We were always on the go, but it was so much fun! I hope you enjoy our pictures!
This is a picture of the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel. Billy and I almost got married here! The middle picture is Banff's main street and the picture on the right is at the ice park. It was a complete kid's playground made out of ice!
The row of pictures above is Bow Falls. We went on some hikes around the falls. The scenery was beautiful!
Pictures were taken on our hike. We saw over 50 elk - they would come right up to you , but some took a nap on the golf course!
These pictures were taken along the Icefields Parkway, which leads between Banff and Jasper. The scenery was absolutely fabulous. We took tons of pictures, but these three will have to do for the website! :-)
The pictures above and below are taken on the glacier that is along the Icefields Parkway. It was absolutely amazing to walk on, but a little scary (or at least I thought so!). Our guide told us the ice we were standing on was as thick as the Empire State Building and Eiffel Tower! Both of which we will see this summer!!! You can see the icicles against my ski jacket, but look at how large the tires were on the vehicle that drove us on the glacier! We went down a 35 degree grade hill.... Yikes!! The tents are from the Mt. Everest documentary they are filming on the glacier.
These pictures were taken at Sunshine Village, which is between Banff and Lake Louise. All of the locals say this is the best place to ski and I think they were right! Isn't the moose cute!!!
Canada's Olympic Park where the 1988 Winter Olympics were held. The picture does not do the ski jump justice.... That is so amazing. The picture on the right shows the bobsled finish! Trivia question, which 3 Olympic Parks have I been to? Answer: Calgary, Atlanta (I went to the Olympics) and Innsbruck, Austria.
This picture is from Prince Island looking into downtown Calgary and then the Sheraton Eau Claire on the right. The tulips were absolutely beautiful!! It is sad, but all of the hotel staff know me here.... After all, I do see them every other week!
These pictures are taken on Prince's Island which is right outside of the Sheraton Eau Claire. It is a beautiful park and makes for a scenic run! Every day, I run for 6 miles and then go up and down (with lots of repeats) the steps shown in the middle picture. The picture on the left is actually made out of marbles!!
