Bon Jour from Paris, France (click on any picture to see it larger)
We did lots and lots of walking all around Paris. I would start out my day with a 5 mile run and then off we went for days filled with crepes, picnics, exploring, parks, carnivals and losing a tooth!! We did everything on foot.
After arriving at our hotel, Londres-Eiffel, two blocks from the Eiffel Tower, we went straight there for a picnic at the base! Bailey took the picture on the right - can you see Billy and me?
Yep, we climbed up the Eiffel Tower to the second floor. We walked a total of 1,394!
Here we are on the first landing. Second and third pics are courtesy of 'B Photography.'
2nd Landing - Billy looking through the telescope while Bailey and I took a 'self' portrait!
Arc de Triumph on the left (where we walked to next), Champ de Mars (where we had our picnics) and Grand Palais.
The picture on our left shows our hotel. Yikes, is he actually working on the elevator?
After that climb, it was nap time! Billy and Bailey with the Seine and Eiffel Tower in the background.
The Arc de Triumph. We walked underground and all around it. The flame was burning for the unknown soldier. The architectural elements were beautiful. The middle picture has the Defense building in the background and the far right pic was taken down the road as I walked across the street.
Future cars on the Champs-Elysees.
We walked from the Arc de Triumph down the Champs-Elysees to the Place de la Concorde where the guillotine sat during the Revolution. We walked all around the beautiful park, Jardin des Tuileries. While here, we spotted the carnival!
Petite Palais, Grand Palais and Musee d Orsay
Bailey taking a drawing break from imitating Winston Churchill
Taking a break across the street from where we got our crepes - - Mozzarella cheese w/ ham and a chocolate crepe! This is Rue Cler, the place 'French Women Don't Get Fat' author talks about as well as Rick Steves. Is Adi in France? Every day that I ran, I saw a beagle that looked just like Adi. On the last day, I finally took a picture.
Bateaux Mouches where we caught our boat for the seine cruise at night.
Click on the far left picture to watch the Eiffel Tower twinkle during our Seine River cruise!
We are walking along and planning our day! Today, we will walk to Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, Seine Picnic, Bastille, Pantehon, Palais & Jardin Du Luxembourg where Bailey got a boat, Rue Cler, Eiffel Tower and our favorite dinner spot!
St. Chapelle the outside of the stained glass windows and rose.
The Rose Window (left) tells the religious story of the Apocalypse in 86 panels of stained glass. The Upper Chapel windows (right two pics) are a pictorial Bible, showing scenes from the Old and New Testament with The Last Supper on the far right. The statues represent the Apostles and are made of wood carvings.
The next pictures are of Notre-Dame
A beautiful backdrop for our picnic on the Seine looking out to Notre-Dame. Bailey and I found chocolate fondue for dessert!
We found the Bastille monument and the Pantheon, before walking the complete other direction to the park!
Here we are at Jardin Du Luxembourg where Bailey got the boat "Sol." She had so much fun with it and we loved watching her! Of course, the little boy that fell in the water gave us all a laugh!
While at the park, Bailey raced a tricycle, climbed to the top and went for a swing!
Bailey and all of these children knew how to communicate, even if she was the only one that spoke English! Check out the H2O fountain!
We went to this great sidewalk cafe that looked out on the Eiffel Tower every night for dinner. Afterwards, we played cards!
Pictures in front of the Louvre
The first two pictures were taken for PawPaw J's blog, not even realizing the possibility of losing a tooth on the Champs Elysees!!!
We are on our way over to the Hotel Invalides and Napoleon's Tomb (the gold dome). While there, we toured the Army Museum (WW I & II)
For our last night, we had a wonderful picnic at the Eiffel Tower!!!! Bailey had it all planned out for us from our first day of arriving in Paris!
There she is, running in my shoes and chasing the birds! Everyone around us got a good laugh. The rest are our self-portraits!!!!
